Galamian assistant, RIP
RIPThe death has been reported of Sally Thomas, assistant to Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School.
She also taught from 1960 at Meadowmount School of Music in in Westport, New York.
Her students included James Ehnes, Ingrid Matthiessen, Anat Malkin, Stephanie Chase, Todd Phillips and Robert Canetti.
Sally was 92.
She also taught for years at Mannes (my alma mater).
Sally Thomas also taught Kyung-Wha Chung for many years, not to mention yours truly.
And me, as well, Robert!
And Pinchas Zukerman…so many. What a great woman she was…

She was a major teacher, with a great number of students every summer at Meadowmount, which was a key to entry to a top conservatory.
The news devasted me. She was such an important person in my life.
