  • Couperin says:

Her new Schumann CD it’s god awful.

  • HReardon says:

So? She is a mere player of notes….a far cry from an artist of note.

  • Observing2 says:

Sorry but she is objectively speaking an awful pianist.

The day that agents realise the best musicians in the world are NOT those who spend 7hrs a day flouncing themselves on social media platforms, the better.

What a utopia that would be, eh?

    • Michael Kaykov says:

Valid music criticism is rarely black or white.

    • GuestX says:

Third prize in the International Robert Schumann Competition in 2016 (the 1st prize wasn’t awarded). Perhaps your objectivity is mere subjectivity?
She is the least ‘flouncy’ of classical YouTubers, and she also has an active concert schedule.
I love the way she plays Schumann (both of them) – intimate, respectful.

      • Observing2 says:

Now go and see her Chopin ballade 1 from the rubinstein competition in 201 on YouTube,, where she was a first round reject.

Hands down one of the worst ever Chopin Ballade 1s on record.

        • GuestX says:

She fluffed the final chord. Of course that alone disqualfied her from going further. Up to then I could imagine far worse performances, but I’m no judge. At least she was among the 30 competitors chosen. So “awful pianist”? Really?

          • Observing2 says:

Ok but now go watch the other 29. They play better. Why aren’t they signed? What? Because they don’t flounce themselves constantly on social media, and they don’t have a narcissistic and vanity complex?

          • GuestX says:

Better check on the other 29, see how many still perform and how many are signed with an agent. Bruce Liu was one, you can start there.

  • Nathaniel Rosen says:

Are you sure that the “50 million views” are not by a computer hacker who is paid to use a robot program?

  • Gerry Feinsteen says:

Most reports online say she was born in Hong Kong, and that she is American. It is possible to be born in another country and become an American. My parents did it. They weren’t “Russian musicians” when they had me—they were Americans.

Her content reveals interesting characteristics of pianists and musicians’ life. She also plays well, unlike most other classical ‘influencers’ and online celebrities.

  • Serge Bernard says:

I liked the white dress. Was there some music in the background. Richard Clyderman?

  • MIchael Kaykov says:

    amazing news.

  • notacynic says:

a well-deserved reward for a talented hard working musician. brava e buona fortuna!

  • Save the MET says:

Tiffany is a fine pianist and does her social media right. The same people whining here are the same ones who went after the super vituoso Cameron Carpeter, as well as Anna Alpwood etc. Listen carefully to that recording, she has the fine airy technique the Schumann requires.

  • Grace Feeney says:

Thank you I have just been searching for information approximately this topic for a while and yours is the best I have found out so far However what in regards to the bottom line Are you certain concerning the supply

  • Manchu says:

Someone please tell me this is a joke.

  • Enquiring Mind says:

Instead of sniping, celebrate a classical musician with 50 million views for …… sake.

  • Ory Shihor says:

I am surprised she wasn’t signed by a major agency sooner as she is a wonderful pianist with a large online following. Good for her.

  • David says:

The bitter comments here reveal the generational gap…I can tell that some ancient viewers of this site got triggered by the way Norman introduced her by referring to 50 million views. The same people who get triggered by Yuja’s clothes. Here’s a message to you guys: Classical music does not belong only to you. In fact, we are moving on with or without you. Classical music does not have to always be about people of “good breeding” coming together to enjoy a sophisticated evening in formal attire. Tiffanny is a young pianist on the rise who gives beautiful heartfelt performances, who also reveals how much work goes into it through social media. She first became popular for her practice videos, where she shows her thought process while practicing. (Her videos are painstakingly edited and commented). If you cannot celebrate the fact that she is introducing classical music to people who may not have had the chance to encounter it if not through this medium, then you’re not a real fan of classical music. You just like feeling superior, and to be honest, nobody likes that. You know why? Because it just shows how insecure and NOT superior you are to everyone.

  • Zandonai says:

Poon can play Richard Clayderman better than Yuja.

  • Pineapplepoll says:

When will they learn that the video distracts one from the music – or is that the idea?

    • GuestX says:

That’s what I’ve always thought about ballet and opera. Much better with no visuals. And of course the Davidsbündlertänze were never meant to suggest the idea of real dancing.

  • Zandonai says:

Problem with classical arts today is the unwashed masses expect it to stoop down to their level instead of these people doing their homework, learning the Classical Tradition & etiquette, and rising up to be inspired.

You don’t go to a classical concert or opera unprepared and expecting to enjoy or not get bored. So don’t blame classical arts for your own failure to learn.

  • Pianoman says:

I’m a 71 year old, old fashioned classical pianist, still performing etc. I admire what Tiffany has done. Her openness to reveal what goes on the minds of performers, the chaos, the stress, the worries is wonderful to see and easily recognised by us all. To have a concert hall filled with young people is great to see and surely opens classical music to more and more young people. Is she a good player? Who are any of us to judge that? I have played for 67 years and I think she does a really good job. Everyone these days is a critic and in my small personal opinion, if you can’t get up there and play, then just keep quiet, we aren’t interested in what you have to say. By the way, I love Yuja’s clothes sense and it does not stop me enjoying her wonderful playing.
