The long-troubled Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden has hired Leo McFall as its next Generalmusikdirektor.

He succeeds Patrick Lange, who stormed out two yers ago.

McFall, 43, is a former assistant to Bernard Haitink. He is presently chief conductor of the the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra in Greece and of the Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra.

He does not appear to be listed with an artists agency.

    It’s good to see that conductors can get high-profile jobs without an agency behind them that makes dirty deals with incompetent artistic directors behind the doors.

    He has conducted at Glyndebourne both on tour and at Glyndebourne. They do give great chances to young conductors.
