Covent Garden loses two stars
OperaDanielle de Niese has pulled out of La bohème this month and next ‘while she recovers from recent illness’. Her Musetta is taken over by Lauren Fagan.
Carlos Álvarez, who recently cancelled Vienna, has also withdrawn from all performances of Andrea Chénier in May and June. His role wioll be split between Amartuvshin Enkhbat and Aleksei Isaev.

Provincial at best. The big career never happened. Nice woman (I knew her 25 years ago…) and a good self-promoter, but she never put her career ahead of her ambition. An international star requires complete devotion and focus. She seems happy with her choices and that is what matters in the end.
I rather listen to Celine Dion’s “my heart will go on” a hundred times in a row at maximum volume rather than have to hear even one song butchered by Danielle diniese. I had the misfortune to see her once, and it was absolutely horrid.
Has she found some musical theatre to do instead?
