The German-based cellist Anastasia Kobekina is to receive the 10,000-Euro Leonard Bernstein Award at this summer’s Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
Past winners include Lang Lang and Alisa Weilerstein.

On April 5, 2019, Mr. Lebrecht posted, “LEBRECHT LISTENS | New Album By Anastasia Kobekina Is The Record Of The Year (So Far),” writing, “I don’t care what happens in the next eight months. This is my record of the year for 2019.” He found the performance of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 “neither here nor there,” but he found the performance of Weinberg’s Fantasy for Cello & Orchestra “simply gripping” and “an indispensable addition to the cello repertoire.”

I just saw her on YT. Very rough tone, bad intonation and could not keep the tempo. However, luscious hair, pretty face and tons of tiktoks and instagrams. So she’s good.
