Disaffected US baton signs with IMG
OrchestrasThe mega-agency has announced a couple of signings.
Caleb Young is an American protege of Jukka-Pekka Sarasate who wrote here a while back that’s there is nowhere in the US where it’s worth studying conducting.
Caleb says: ‘Joining IMG Artists is a significant milestone in my artistic journey. I am inspired by their unwavering commitment to artistic excellence and the shared vision of pushing the boundaries of classical music. I look forward to collaborating with the talented team at IMG Artists to create unforgettable musical experiences that resonate with audiences worldwide.’
IMG’s other capture of the week is the Polish soprano Izabela Matula.
On the debit side, we hear IMG is about to lose one of its top earners along with her manager.
Watch this space.
I just don’t get Sarasate.
Per Caleb: ‘I look forward to collaborating with the talented team at IMG Artists to create unforgettable musical experiences that resonate with audiences worldwide.’ Well, this must raise the bar for self-important puffery. Pro-tip: Language like this should be (if earned) written by others about you. Not by YOU about YOU.
And how, exactly, has he written about himself in that statement?
A statement like that will not help Mr. Young’s career, i the US at least.
