Death of Hungary’s foremost concertmaster
RIPThe death has been conveyed of János Rolla, concertmaster of the Liszt Ferenc Chamber Orchestra from 1963 to 1979 and thereafter its artistic director.
All told, he served the orchestra for more than half a century.
Rolla was also renowned as a chamber musician. He played with Isaac Stern. Rostropovich, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Maurice Andre and countless other great artists. He was 79 at his passing.
