Berlin Phil replaces New Year singer (no, not Kaufmann)
OrchestrasMessage received:
Georg Zeppenfeld has unfortunately had to cancel his appearance as Hunding in the concert performance of the first act of Die Walküre in the remaining two New Year’s Eve concerts of the Berliner Philharmoniker under the direction of Kirill Petrenko.
The Berliner Philharmoniker are very grateful to Tobias Kehrer for being able to step in at short notice, and wish Georg Zeppenfeld a speedy recovery. With these concerts, Tobias Kehrer makes his debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

It already passes all imagination what ways you are grasping to harm Kaufmann, I am shocked…
Get a sense of humour in 2024! It won’t harm you a bit.
Sings an excellent Hunding.
Thats a great shame as he’s one of the greatest Wagnerian basses performing today.
Kehrer was great! Way to step in to a high-profile gig at the last minute.
How come you haven’t mentioned that Kaufmann has already withdrawn from Verdi’s Requiem in Salzburg? Or did I overlook that news on your webpage?
….um stattdessen eine weitere Aufführung von La Gioconda zu singen.
