Putin is still ‘discussing’ Bolshoi replacement
OperaThe press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov has told journalists that the management of the Bolshoi Theatre has been discussed more than once at meetings with the president’s participation, but no decisions have yet been made.
The Bolshoi’s general director Vladimir Urin told the state news agency Tass: ‘You know, I’m working. I’m on tour in Minsk. There have been no official reports, other than how social networks, the media, and so on are vividly discussing it. That’s why today I’m on tour in Minsk together with the Bolshoi Theatre.’
Why doesn’t Tugan take over? After all, he’s a Gergiev protegé.
I’d expect that he’d rather conduct than run the entire opera company, ballet company, and the rest of that enormous enterprise.
