French mourn a defining principal flute
RIPThe recently retired principal flute of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, François Laurent, died on Monday after a short illness. He defined the woodwind timbre of France’s best orchestra outside Paris for 41 years.
Never heard of the man until this moment, but after that lovely sound clip from the Debussy Prélude, can understand why his passing is indeed a loss.
Wow, that was short. François was a lovely man and very accomplished player in his prime. I knew he was on medication but this, well…RIP, dear colleague.
