Final words of ensemble killed by Arts Council England
NewsMessage from Psappha Ensemble, one of half a dozen classical companies that have been executed by ACE:
It’s time to say goodbye. We’re sorry to announce that Psappha is now closed. Thank you for all the incredible support over the last, very difficult, year. You can still access our incredible library of films through our website www.psappha.com
We won’t forget them. Or the vandals who did this to our cultural infrastructure.
Tim Williams, who founded the ensemble in 1991 will maintain the vast video archive. Today on YouTube he has released this performance of The Last Island by Peter Maxwell Davies, which was performed at Tim’s final concert as Artistic Director in March 2022.
“Performing arts content providers with unpronounceable names drawing from elitist dead languages shall be defunded.”
In the dark times
will there also be singing?
Yes, there will also be singing.
About the dark times.
In the dark times, the people will have neither need nor desire to think about the dark times.
D J Trump endorses this post!
Not every ensemble can stay as it is forever. Things change. We’re supposed to be a creative sector so you’d think we’d thrive on that change. Lots of organisations have funding for the first time or have massively increased funding – lets hear more about their positive stories.
A huge thank you and congratulations to Tim and Psappha for the incredible contributions they’ve made to both culture in Britain and abroad.
It must feel like you are working in a vacuum. Unappreciated. Sidelined. It’s not the case. You will be remembered for your excellence of programming and performance, and your council will be remembered for their indifference and incompetence.
Btw great choice on Max’s work for the swan song.
