English soprano dies in Brazil at 46
RIPOne of the leading sopranos in Brazil, Marina Considera has died in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 46 after suffering from bowel cancer. The funeral is today.
Born in England, Marina was a member of the Opera Studio of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia for three years under the guidance of Renata Scotto, Anna Vandi and Cesare Scarton. Since 2015, she has studied with soprano Eliane Coelho.
‘We were together on stage several times, and Marina had impressive artistic qualities,’ said the tenor Eric Herrero, artistic director of Municipal in Rio.’In addition to her beautiful voice and extraordinary musical taste, she was a deeply tender, joyful human being, even during her fight against illness. I am devastated and the world has become sadder.’
R.I.P! Cancer is still such threatening and scary disease even in our scientifically advanced world!
