Ruth Leon recommends.. Fever – Peggy Lee
Ruth Leon recommendsFever – Peggy Lee
There have been a lot of Peggy Lee imitators recently, tributes, impersonations, adaptations, homages. Here is a case of the real thing meaning so much more than any imitation – singer, songwriter, composer, producer – Peggy Lee herself with her most famous song.
You can’t beat the original – a classic recording from the late 60’s featuring Peggy accompanied by just Max Bennett on bass and Jack Sperling on drums. Fever was written originally by Davenport and Cooley. Peggy added her own lyrics and the finger snapping.
Less is more. Nothing like it.
It doesn’t get any better. Grabs me every time.
Must be generational. I found it too boring even to finish.
Ruth Leon recommends…Beethoven’s 9th….Shakespeare’s Hamlet…ancient Petra…sunsets…the Alps…the original versions of American standards and pop classics…Moby Dick…the Ring Road…the Beatles…
Ruth can be depended upon for going out on a limb. Radical stuff. Always learn something new.
Please . . . MISS Peggy Lee!
LOVE Peggy Lee . . . but you also MUST check out Rita Moreno performing this song with Animal from The Muppets. You can catch it on YouTube. Dare you to not laugh. . . .
Lee first recorded “Fever” in the late 1950s.
