Principal flute has instrument stolen
OrchestrasMessage from Katherine Bryan of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra:
STOLEN INSTRUMENT
Today my beloved flute was taken. It was in a beige rucksack, stolen between Platform 3 at Farringdon and East Croydon Station, on the 9.34 train to Brighton.
Flute is a Brannen silver Millenium 5320 with a silver Lafin headjoint w/gold lip plate. Please share!— Katherine Bryan (@kathbryan) October 23, 2023
I only walked away for a second…
Flight attendants have literally made fun of me when they have seen me holding my flute case on my lap. “Sir, why don’t you place it in an overhead bin? Tyrone will be sure to tend to it with TLC.”
Yes — we know where the rucksack was. Where was the owner?
Blame the victim master class…………
Good question. Why was the backpack with such a valuable item left unattended?
Was it snatched from her hand? Circumstances are not provided on how exactly the backpack was snatched – Why is that?
She probably will have insurance on it and get funds for a replacement!
Do, please, go and be unhelpful and mean spirited elsewhere!
What will the thief do with it.
Oh it’s been melted down and made into a set of forks and knives.
Remember the student who trailed the professor and stole his Strad and kept it for 35 years until he died?
Don’t assume that musical instrument thieves are talentless random hobos, they’re more likely talentless aspiring classical musicians.
The real question is: who cherished it more? The pro who left it unattended, or the amateur who coveted it and never let it out of his sight for the rest of his life?
That’s not the real question, that’s cheap casuistry.
The real question is who legally owned it?
Serial number? Very best wishes for the quickest possible recovery.
Had she put the instrument in a viola case, it wouldn’t have been stolen. Get your viola case, that’s THEFT PREVENTION, today.
Millenium?
An Apple AirTag costs $40.
Check the local Cash Converters and Pawn shops. Chances are it’s an opportunist thief. They tend to try their luck in places like that.
