The only surprise is that the announcement will be made by Simon Webb, BBC director of orchestras and choirs, who was last seen trying to decimate them.

Reading out pre-prepared statements is probably the upper level of his competence, though I wouldn’t put it past him to screw that up, too.
I agree. How he’s kept his job, is beyond me, but it is the BBC so nothing surprises me from that geriatric organisation.
