Lucky Houston. This guy is a superb conductor
I have only seen Juraj Valčuha conduct twice live, in-person, and that was with the Utah Symphony in October 2016. Prokofiev’s Third Symphony was on the program, with Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto, and Andrey Gugnin was the piano soloist. Valcuha was far more than just capable even then.
Hopefully there will be some commercial recordings released with the Houston Symphony and Valčuha, perhaps on the Naxos label. The Houston Symphony does live-stream one performance from each of the Classical Series weekend (for a charge of course) performances.
Slovenskoooo!!!
He would have been a much better choice than Mazzola to MD Chicago Lyric.
Michael: but Valčuha doesn’t have Mazzola’s dad’s money.
Silly comment.
What an odd use of “nail”! Or is that another across-the-pond difference in usage?
