Danes appoint Belarus-Russian chief conductor
OrchestrasThe Aarhus Symphony Orchestra has chosen Dmitry Matvienko as its Chief Conductor from 2024 to 2027.
Matvienko, 33, won the Malko Competition for Young Conductors.
Born in Minsk, he studied in St Petersburg and sang in the Music Aeterna Choir at Perm Opera under the artistic direction of Teodor Currentzis. In 2017, he won a conductor internship at the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia (chief conductor Vladimir Spivakov).
