The U-Haul filled with an entire production, “Song of the North,” was stolen from the hotel parking lot. Surveillance cameras at the San Francisco Comfort Inn by the Bay, 277 Van Ness Avenue, revealed the truck and all of its contents were jacked by two individual males at 2.30 am PT, Oct 23.
The contents of the truck included the entire production of “Song of the North,” including 500 handcrafted puppets, intricate masks, costumes, props, projectors, multiple scenic elements all carefully packed in the truck for its planned trip to Seattle. The show is scheduled to play sold-out performances as part of the production’s national tour.
If it wasn’t stolen in San Francisco, it would have been in Seattle.
Two “scholars” no doubt.
Was this perhaps done to destroy a program associated with Iranian (Persian) culture?
San Francisco has a very high crime rate. It was probably opportunist robbers.
That would require a minimum level of awareness, which I’m sure would not have been the case.
Next in the news: “500 Puppet Theater” is charged with hate crime in misgendering two robbers as males.
“…jacked by two individual males…”
As opposed to the conjoined males that have been such a problem of late.
