Sudden death of Moscow-based Ukrainian tenor, 47
RIPRussian media are reporting the death of Maxim Paster, a Bolshoi star for the past two decades.
Kharkiv born and trained, he brust onto the scene there in Verdi’s Requiem and was hired by the Bolshoi before the year was out. He went on to sing major roles in Leipzig, Rome and Paris, while holding a teaching post in Moscow.
He was due to appear in Munich’s Boris Godunov in January.
This is very sad. Maxim sang with us a few years ago. He was gentle and extremely personable as well as having a very good voice. My condolences to his family and friends.
That’s all we know so far? This sounds a little “suspicious’!
