RIPThe Serbian soprano Milka Stojanović, who has died at 86, sang at the Belgrade Opera from 1959 to 1993.
Her overseas appearances were at Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin, Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Madrid and Prague, as well as the Metropolitan Opera where she sang in Turandot, Boccanegra, Aida, Boheme and Giaconda.

Thank you for remembering and mentioning her. She was true gold, but highly underused (esp. in her native country, mainly for political reasons and in favor of La Bakocevic, due to communist party). And, she ended her career too early, unfortunately. Too bad she wasn’t utilized in the US more…… Her husband was a wonderful operatic bass, also.
