That’s typical of Germany. I have witnessed a gargantuan example but I won’t narrate as it involves other persons.

  • Herbie G says:

If that was the sole reason for the termination of her contract, then good luck to her. Weimar was supposedly the centre of German enlightenment. Someone should remind the Franz Liszt University that this is 2023, not 1823.

  • Fafner says:

Well, if she had an unlimited contract, there is no way in German law to end this contract during pregnancy or Mutterschutz.

If it was a limited contract which expired during pregnancy or Mutterschutz then it is a tricky question

It’s university of Weimar loss. Clare Huangi’s a greatest pianist.

  • Zarathusa says:

What a shame! Didn’t they like the kid??? It’s not fair to punish the mom!!!

  • Cassidy says:

I believe her contract was terminated before she even began..

  • Edo says:

Probably the situation is more nuanced, becouse laws are clear and I think no major institution would venture in a such blatant violation of the law. But all is possible…

  • Josephine says:

Looks like the Weimar University has only two piano professors.. The rest being supporting staff, or for supplementary piano. Haven’t heard of either Bettina Bruhn or Michail Lifits.
