2 weeks training and — to the front line!

  • Sanity says:

It’s not just that Netrebtko is being allowed to play both sides. Opera houses, both in Europe and US have relied on dirty Russian and Eastern European money for too long, and they are struggling without it. It won’t be long before a workaround is found, and the horror of the war in Ukraine is explained away…

    • william osborne says:

Which opera houses are relying on dirty money from Russia and Eastern Europe?

    • Karen says:

Please check your sanity. What has she really done? Declare against the wae 3 times!!! there’s noone singing like her. Next, you’ll compare her to Hitler. Ukraine is still an oligarchy… reflect on that, or do some proper research.

    • T J EATON says:

If they don’t like Russian money then refuse it on principle

  • A.L. says:

Two-faced has no plans to visit Kyiv or Odesa, has she? If this report is accurate, then it confirms everything we already knew about her. And it would also collapse all arguments about her security risks in Russia. For we know who would be protecting her.

    • A.L. says:

Namely, her favorite war criminal, the one she has defiantly refused to condemn for his ongoing incursions into and against a sovereign state.

  • Larry L. Lash says:

Sure about that date? She is set for an all-Russian recital at Wiener Staatsoper on 19 October, and ten days later starts a series of four performances of “Manon Lescaut” opposite her baggage.

Will her priority be determined by patriotism or her purse?

  • Tom Phillips says:

    She should stay there permanently.

  • Tiredofitall says:

    Was there ever any doubt?

  • Jonathan Sutherland says:

Perhaps Donna Anna will surprise us all and propose a benefit concert for Ukrainian war refugees?
Or Yusif the Useless will adopt a displaced Armenian family?
Or the Krasnodar crooner will learn to sing in tune.
    Or pigs might fly.

  • Save the MET says:

    She should stay there.

  • Fiona says:

She might go to Russia only to visit and sing, but i can tell you: She will never, ever leave Austria for good. Ever. Netrebko living permanently in Russia? Not gonna happen. Ever, seriously.

    • Save the MET says:

The Wiener Staatsoper management has lost my respect for presenting her despite the fact that she lives there.

  • Ray Veysey says:

She needs to be careful, she’s probably richer than her home country is now.

  • Marina says:

Antisemitism, antiarabs, ryssophobia etc are the elements of one chain: intransigence to something different. Fears create aggression. It is shame the music that must join people becomes the weapon for aggression, humiliation of human dignity. Shame on you all who is writing very personal comment about her husband, family, money. You all are probably holy people.
