Japan mourns top conductor, 82
RIPThe Japanese conductor Taijiro Iimori was a music assistant at Bayreuth for 20 summers from 1970.
He went on to be artistic director of opera at the New National Theatre, Tokyo. He was regarded as the country’s leading Wagner authority.
Taijiro died of heart failure on August 15.
Condolences
Apart from Wagner he was highly regarded for his Bruckner performances. I remember my first Bruckner concert by him. Memorable experience.
