Not any dumber or meaner than some of the ones I’ve seen on this site!
Great entertainer.
You’re borderline racially abusing the Netrebkos and their English language skills on another page and you have the nerve to post this?
Pot and kettle?
Yes, Classic FM and BBC Music Magazine seem to be in a race to grab Google clicks by turning headlines into search terms. It’s embarrassing in its transparency – and devalues whatever good content they offer (and the print edition of BBC Music does have some fine articles, in its defense).
But the winner will always be Slipped Disc. Best thing about the site the headlines
Where’s the rest of the story? Or have we reached peak stupidity with mere headline-reading?
I think peak stupidity was reached a good while ago on here…………..
Would you care to elaborate?
Yes, indeed…
I think it is unfair to single out AndrĂ© Rieu. In fact, he’s been very successful at promoting classical music.
I’ve enjoyed his musical programs immensely. I think the ‘problem’ is he has made lots of money and is a huge international success.
It’s a light music orchestra.
My motto: If it keeps classical music alive, fosters orchestral playing, attracts singers, offers careers, fills the halls or plazas, and gives joy: Applaud it and encourage it.
Let’s not be such terrible classical music snobs:).
Viewing is voluntary but I suspect many object because it attracts the “wrong” people.
You must mean the popcorn eaters at the Proms………..
I enjoy watching his tv programs and like that he does all types of music, including the beer barrel polka! Everybody in the audience loved it and were dancing. Maybe the Met should try polka music, except the only opera I can think of that has polka music is Schwanda the Bagpiper.
Bedrich Smetana could be relied upon to come up with the goods…

If Classic FM gets dumber, it’s going to have to rebrand as BBC3.
