Cancer claims a Philadelphia cellist, 49
RIPThe family has announced the death of Mirjam Ingolfsson, an Iceland-born cellist who made her career in the US.
She had been struggling with cancer for exactly half her life.
In addition to concerto and recital performances, she was deeply involved with a group of contemporary composers.
Another superbly talented performer taken way too early! The heavenly orchestra has been growing by leaps and bounds lately…now she has joined the BEST OF THE BEST! RIP, Mirjam!
Mirjam was a kind and gentle soul with a superb gift, as we hear beginning at 1:43 in the video. Part of a highly talented family, she placed her priorities on the music rather than herself. Condolences to her family.
Heartbreaking news about Mirjam. I am very sad and send my deepest condolences to her family.
I did not know this woman. However I hope her family can find solice.
With my deepest respect, I send heartfelt condolences to the family of this wonderful musician.
My condolences to her family and her Philadelphia Orchestra colleagues. A lovely performance of the Haydn concerto in the link. THAT’S a beautiful bow arm!
