Apple Classical cleans up Salzburg
NewsThe onward march of the classical app has now encompassed the lofty Salzburg Festival.
Here’s what they are about to announce:
Apple Music Classical has signed the Salzburg Festival as its latest partner organisation.
The partnership will include exclusive audio recordings from the Salzburg Festival; Spatial Audio remastering of iconic recordings from past Festivals such as the 2009 recital from Martha Argerich and Nelson Freire and exclusive playlists created by the Festival.
The Salzburg Festival commented: “The Salzburg Festival with its more than 100 year history is very pleased to be able to present its unique line up of incredible productions, opera, concerts, recitals and chamber music on the newly created Apple Music Classical.”
Other partner organisations include the Berlin Philharmonic, Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, Opéra national de Paris, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony and the Vienna Philharmonic.
Great news! I may reconsider my decision not to subscribe.
What does that mean in regard to Salzburg’s current media partners ORF, Unitel, DG?
Does Apple just license their content?
Or does Apple send their own production teams?
Bravo Apple! Opening the greatest classical music venues in the world for all to hear!
Haha, hardly so. Salzburg is all over the media platforms and broadcasters for decades.
Apple is just looking for content and they have money.
Nothing really new here.
