Solti’s house is up for sale
NewsA Sunday Times reporter has been given the estate agent’s tour of the house in my vicinity where the Soltis once lived.
Georg died in September 1997, Valerie in April 2021.
This is presumably an estate sale for the benefit of their two daughters. I remember it as a house of great happiness. There are seven bedrooms, a lovely garden and an indoor pool.
Yours for £17 million ($21.5m).
Anyone venture to explain why the caster on the Fabbrini Steinway has been airbrushed out?
I was going to ask the same question. The floating magic piano must be (one of) the reasons for the asking price.
Maybe the piano has been air-brushed in. Today real estate advertisements often say “virtual furnishing”.
It’s an outdoor pool.
Solti died on September 5th of 1997 – not August of 1997.
He died the day before Princess Diana’s funeral; didn’t get a lot of press coverage. Another irony is that he was scheduled to conduct his 1000th concert with CSO the next month (I recall a big banner on Orchestra Hall); he was replaced by Barenboim (also his successor in Chicago), who had been scheduled as soloist for the event.
I could not afford it on my civil service pension
