The British conductor George Henry Jackson, music director of the Amarillo Symphony, celebrated his wedding this weekend.

The bride is Marina Carral Fernandez, from Spain.

      Mrs. Syble Harrington lived in Amarillo and she gave millions of dollars to the Metropolitan Opera. This is not just a Texas cow town and the fact that it supports a regionall orchestra is wonderful. Let’s don’t get snobby. NYC doesn’t have much to crow about these days. We have quantity but not so much quality.

        Amarillo also has a relatively new performing arts center which is quite nice. James Setapen, who was music director for a number of years, deserves much credit for building up the orchestra.

    The Amarillo Symphony website lists eleven staff members with photos but I couldn’t find anything about the musicians.
