An Amazonian debuts on record
NewsThe Brazilian conductor Simone Menezes, who takes her first bows at the end of next month in the Hollywood Bowl, will follow up with a record debut titled Amazonia.
It is described as a ‘celebration of the Amazonian rainforest through works by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Philip Glass.’
Whataever, it’s a fresh take on a major global issue.
Good idea to think about Heitor Villa-Lobos but when we are talking about him it’s important to repeat how important are his symphonies and I dread that unless if I make a trip to Brazil (Sao Paulo Orchetra you are welcome in Europe for tour if you read me) I will never hear any one of them in concert. They are marvelous. Last year I have seen Castro’s Neojiba playing Bachianas 4th it was great.
