Tchaikovsky violin results: South Korean beats Russians and Chinese
NewsThe violin contest yielded a small surprise:
I Prize and Gold Medal – Gyehee Kim (South Korea)
II Prize and Silver Medal – Ravil Islyamov (Russia)
III Prize and Bronze Medal – Chaowen Luo (China), Daniil Kogan, (Russia), Elena Tarosyan (Russia)
IV prize and Diploma- Yiying Jiang (China)
“Seeing all of the results it’s clear the non-Korean jury colluded to award prizes to Koreans.” Right.
Who’d have thought this edition of Tchaikovsky Competition would have returned the minimally controversial results? V Gergiev! We are onto you
Yea Gyehee! Way to go, SOUTH Korea!
She and her teacher were the first surprised and stunned upon hearing it.
No kidding this jury waited till 10:45pm to produce their egg in front of a virtually empty hall…
The full audience, some moved to tears, who just gave a lengthy standing ovation to the exquisite music making from the final participant would have likely gasped for air!
South Korea punches well above its weight. We will hear much more from that country’s music students.
I wonder how much more we’ll hear from the jury.
Probably a chain gang in Siberia by now. 😀
Imagine how much better she just have been to convince all these Russian Chinese juries…
shame for participation in the competition sponsored by terrorist state.
A three-way split for third?
It seems *incredible* that three could come up with identical scores from a broad panel of judges.
Congratulations to Kim! Well deserved. The level of contestants was very low this time. Almost similar to the 1990 & 1994 editions.
Good for those who had the courage to participate. I remember Elena Tarosyan from Khachaturian competition many years ago (2015?). She was of of the bests but they didn’t let her advance to finals to let a favorite win that year. Did I mention Mr. Tadevosyan was head of the jury that year?
