Hamburg hires Ukrainian conductor
OrchestrasThe NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra has named the Ukrainian-Swedish Sasha Yankevych as its new Conductor Fellow, working with music director Alan Gilbert. He has been working with Gilbert since 2018 at the Royal Stockholm Opera
Yankevych succeeds Simon Crawford-Philips and Petr Popelka in the Hamburg role.
I’m sure there was an open, transparent application process and selection in order to ensure 100% compliance with the extreme virtue signalling required of a taxpayer-financed institution.

I’m sure the orchestra musicians are silently happy that a small group of capable and informed people decided, rather than having the next quota-inflicted procedure which does all but look at the qualities necessary, and not to skin colour and gender ….
