Death of veteran US orchestra chief, 97
RIPWe are saddened to hear of the passing of Marshall Turkin, in Boca Raton, Florid.
Marshall, who was 97, was General Manager of the Pittsburgh Symphony and the Honolulu Symphony and Executive Director of Chicago Symphony’s Ravinia Festival and Cleveland Orchestra’s Blossom Music Center. In between he was also Executive Director of the Detroit Symphony.
When not managing orchestras, he wrote symphonies, some of which got performed.
Marshall was a fine colleague, good friend and fine musician .
He made a positive difference in his many roles in the performing arts.
