Tchaikovsky star cellist dies at 43
RIPCellists around the world are sharing their distress at the sudden death of Aleksandr Khramouchin.
A Belarus-registered finalist in the 2002 Tchaikovsky Competition (where no first prize was awarded), Sasha served for 20 years (1999-2019) as principal cello of the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. He was also a member of the Aviv Quartet from 2010 to 2015. His recording include the complete cello works of the neglected Frenchman Maurice Ohana. He had an extraordinary ability to interpret music that others found impermeable.
Lately, he appeared as a cello-piano duo with his wife Eliane Reyes.
They have a one year-old daughter, Adele.
Eliane has posted this family video in the past few hours:
Just Cellists?
Tragic news for music lovers and for mum and daughter unbelievably devastating.
