Oboist is Holland’s new chief conductor
OrchestrasPhion, the Orchestra of Gelderland & Overijssel in the Netherlands, has chosen Alexei Ogrintchouk as its chief conductor.
A former BBC New Generation Artist, Ogrintchouk has been principal oboe of the Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2005.
Great artist. I remember he directed Sibelius’s “Valse triste” few days after the death of Mariss Janson with the RCO. Before I think he was at the Paris conservatoire.
What happened to Otto Tausk, appointed the same position just a few years ago?
A fabulous oboist and artist. I hope he does not need to leave the Concertgebouworkest.
