Manchester away win for Israeli pianist
OrchestrasThe young Tom Borrow has been chosen for the 2023 Terence Judd-Hallé Award. It involves concerto performances with the Hallé Orchestra and a recital at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Past winners include Nikolai Lugansky and Stephen Hough.
Saw his Wigmore livestream from a few weeks ago. Very average, uninspired playing. Don’t know who’s been injecting money into his PR.
A bit harsh ‘I Beg Your Pardon’. I saw it also & think he’s a very fine young pianist- who already plays with great sensitivity & high technical accomplishments. No doubt he will develop over the years & is worth the investment.
His Rachmaninov 3 with LPO in Eastbourne was sensational: he is the real deal.
I was in the hall for this lunchtime recital and found it to be a wonderfully assured debut (as anyone can see for themselves on YouTube or hear for themselves on Radio 3).
I look forward to seeing how Tom’s career continues to develop and will hopefully be able to catch one of these events on the award tour. Bravo & Congratulations, Tom!
