Lucerne hires next boss in Berlin
NewsSebastian Nordmann director of the Berlin Konzerthaus and its orchestra since 2009, has been picked as the next Lucerne Festival chief, starting January 2026.
Nordmann, 52, is from Kiel. He has only ever worked in Germany. he received his PhD for a thesis about the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
He succeeds Michael Haefliger who has led Lucerne as executive and artistic director since 1999.
