Iceland mourns its opera founder
RIPThe Icelandic Opera was founded on October 3, 1980, at the initiative of a singer, Garðar Cortes, who died today aged 82.
Garðar, who also founded the Reykjavík Singing School, was known as the Godfather of Icelandic Opera.
Gardar was an absolute wonder for the opera scene and particularly Icelandic music. Many will show you packed concert halls for him with standing ovation lasting close to half hour.
RIP Gardar!
Bless til þín.
