Dutch concertmaster dies, 74
UncategorizedThe Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in the Netherlands is lamenting the death of its former concertmaster Ronald Hoogeveen.
A child prodigy, he learned his craft over several years in German orchestras before taking charge at home.
Away from the orchestra, he was leader of the Raphael Quartet.
I never met or heard Ronald, but condolences to Godfried Hoogeveen, his brother, a really good and elegant cellist, former principal cellist of the Concertgebouw orchestra, for me personal the last great principal solo cellist there. (i repeat, personal opinion).
It’s beautiful on your part to express condolences and at the same time notice to a good and elegant cellist, former principal at Concertgebouw, brother of Godfried Hoogeveen. Sometimes we learn about a talented artist only after they die when popular publications rush in to share how wonderful that artist WAS and what a great loss it is. R.I.P. Godfried Hoogeveen. Condolences to his family and friends.
