The Esmé Quartet, formed in 2016 by four Korean female musicians, has just broken ranks.

Dimitri Murrath is the new violist, replacing Jiwon Kim.

He says: ‘I was told I passed the internship and I am now 사원 in Esmé, Inc.’

They say: ‘Dimitri started playing with us during our US tour in March. From the very first rehearsal, we felt such a deep musical connection that we were so happy to share our music together on stage with him!’

Really, this diversity thing is getting out of hand.

  • Carl says:

I wonder if he gets his own dressing room when on tour?

  • Sue Sonata Form says:

Wow, the Asians are really winning aren’t they!! Great news, especially when the European world seems to be losing interest in art music.

    • Bruce Barstow says:

Sue Sonata Form: You seem to have hit a nail on the head. Especially about European Orchestras. I will be hearing Esme next week at the Perelman, we’ll see how the male interloper sizes up to the women. I expect to be enchanted.
