Koreans mourns violin godmother
RIPThe death has been announced of Nam Yum Kim, music director of Korean Soloists and professor of violin at Korea’s National University of Arts.
A Juilliard student of Ivan Galamian and Felix Galimir, she went on to cultivate two generations of Korean string players. She was a regular judge at leading international competitions.
Nam Yun Kim, perhaps the most influential and impactful violin teacher of the recent past. South Korea has become -the- place to learn how to play the violin.
May her memory be a blessing.
