Arvo Pärt gets one-third of a prize
NewsThe Polar Music Prize – a kind of harmonious Nobel – is being split this year into three.
The eminent Estonian composer will share his envelope with Bening performer Angélique Kidjo and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell.
Normally it is shared equally by a pop and a classical musician.
Having recently kept my eyes open for an entire program of his music I might say that Pärt is a bit classical and a bit pop. Hopefully this prize can give him a boost
That is a way to gain TWO recognitions.
To me he is empty.
