The old Opéra Garnier is getting an overdue facelift. The building is under scaffold while decades of wear and pollution are treated.
Performances will continue throughout the renovation and the work should be completed some time next year.

It was in 1997
Me too. It was black with exhaust tarnish when I fell in love with it in the 1980s…somewhere around the millenium was when they cleaned all the monuments and key buildings and overnight everything was CLEAN for the first time!
I suppose it’s been 25 years, but they look much better now than they did in the 80s and 90s
The Palais Garnier has a hideously impressive face. The best view is from about halfway down the Avenue de l’Opéra, but then there is the risk of being run over by a bus…
