German festival goes London-centric
OrchestrasThe bucolic Schleswig-Holstein Festival, which has drifted to the margins in recent years, has had a change of policy. in the next few summers it will focus on major capitals, starting with London.
This summer’s content includes the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, cellist Sheku and pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason, Steven Isserlis and singer Ian Bostridge.
The focus artist is London-raised Daniel Hope.
SHMF has redefined itself as ‘Germany’s largest classical music festival’. It runs from July 1 to August 27.
