Conducting a patter of tiny feet
OrchestrasKarina Canellakis, chief conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, is clearing her diary to have a baby, her second, in May. She expects to return at the end of August.
The French conductor Chloé van Soeterstède, Cheffe en Residence at Orchestre national d’Auvergne, has given birth to her first child at London’s St Mary’s Hospital last friday. It’s a girl, named Elsa.
And we expecting an announcement very soon from a prominent pianist.
2023 is a year of renewal.
Good luck ,Karina!!!!
So,the four pathetic thumb downers don´t wish a pregnant woman good luck???….It´s always good to remind myself i don´t know personally such flawed characters……)
Here’s hoping she keeps her April NY Phil dates!
From what i heard, yes(Just ignore the irrelevant thumbdowns, most likely from one frustrated armchair conductor pushing the same button nine times)….
Why is it newsworthy when a woman conductor had a baby, but not a male conductor?
curb your prejudices. We reported when Andris Nelsons took three months off after his wife had a baby.
I stand corrected; I had not seen this. However, it is not a prejudice. No need to fall into that trap.
Exactly what I just said without having seen your comment.
Because men can’t have babies? Cut some slack…
Congratulations are in order, of course, but, why is this relevant? Do we announce the birth of the children of male conductors? They can’t have it both ways.
To those asking why such a big deal isn’t made over expectant father conductors: they don’t need to take as much time off as a matter of medical necessity.
Good luck, ladies! (from another expectant mom)
