Austrian pianist is charged with funding fraud

As director of the Kultur.Sommer.Semmering and the Bösendorfer Festival in Wiener Neustadt, Florian Krumpöck is one of the most dazzling figures in Lower Austria’s cultural landscape. On February 23, the star pianist, who is otherwise so courted, has to start a difficult journey. The public prosecutor’s office in Vienna has brought charges of serious fraud against Krumpöck and a person close to him. According to the indictment, the director is said to have received too much funding from 2019 to 2021, to the detriment of the public sector – in the case of the state of Lower Austria. The presumption of innocence applies to everyone involved.
