Sudden death of Staatsoper conductor, 52
RIPHessischen Staatstheater Wiesbaden has been stunned by the death on Saturday of Christoph Stiller, moments before he was due to conduct Hansel und Gretel.
Christoph was 52.
He had been on the staff at Wiesbaden for 25 years, conducting more than 500 performances. Apparently, he was absent from his dressing room when called for the performance. Another conductor jumped in. News of Christoph’s death was received as the curtain fell.
