Composers orchestra rushes in new chief
NewsThe American Composers Orchestra has named violinist/composer Curtis Stewart as its new artistic director, starting today.
Stewart succeeds Derek Bermel, who is stepping down after ten years.
His top priority?
Working with Garrett McQueen, ACO’s Director of Artist Equity, Stewart will also provide artistic oversight to ACO’s EarShot composer advancement initiatives, including mentorship and artistic development for participating artists and programming guidance for partner orchestras and organizations nationwide.
What, nothing about diversity and equity and the usual buzz-words?

He’s a good violinist. Why would he lead an orchestra???
