The British pianist Margaret Fingerhut has collaborated with Ukrainian filmmaker Viktoriia Levchenko on a short fundraising video, based on a work by Sergei Bortkiewicz (1877-1952), inspired by the landscape of Crimea.

The music is unexpected at every turn and the imagery is deeply unsettling.

    Wait…Ukraine will rise again?

Not sure I’d like it if the world was ruled by them.

And a fine reminder what a fine pianist Margaret Fingerhut is.

    • Michael Endres says:

      Indeed she is.
I have always admired her playing and can especially recommend her outstanding Arnold Bax recordings with Bryden Thomson and the London Philharmonic.

  • Zelda Macnamara says:

She is such a big-hearted person as well as a brilliant musician. A few years ago she did a concert tour across the whole of the UK to raise money for the City of Sanctuary network, with a programme of music where all the pieces were in some way related to refugees.

  • GUHG says:

    Amazing touching performance/video. Breathtaking music.
