In the early 80’s i saw at the Bayerische Staatsoper a really wonderful production of Judas Maccabeus of Handel starring Rainer Goldberg…. anyone else remember it?
It’s from the military oratorio “Joshua” (1747).
Maybe, but most of us know it from JM!
It would a good thing if orchestras and choral societies offered Judas Maccabaeus as an occasional seasonal alternative to …um, what’s that other Handel oratorio called?
Israel in Egypt.
