A good week to bury bad news
NewsStand by in the next four days for announcements, or leaks, of bad decisions at:
1 BBC Radio 3
The next controller will be the wrong person at the wrong time, tasked with disestablishing BBC orchestras and moving most of the network to the northwest.
2 Arts Council England
Expect them quietly to hedge some contentious recent decisions.
3 The Metropolitan Opera
will have further high profile cancellations to share
4 Boston Symphony
More heads will roll.
5 Munich Philharmonic
might – just might – name an interim chief conductor
6 A certain French festival
will discreetly readmit Anna Netrebko in a gala role. UPDATE: Just did.

Thanks for that Christmas cheer, Norman. It’s like an advent calendar where bad news lurks behind every door! :-0
No surprise! All process and no regards for the arts, particularly classical music. Kent Opera and the Arts Council of GB in those days, as it was, is a case in point, and Roger Norrington conducting. But then the rot all starts in our British schools – sing along kids to a CD in chest voice!
Interim chief conductor for the Munich Philharmonic? That seems to contradict a previous post here.
